My First 4th of July (5 months, 4 weeks)

Hey all!  I celebrated my first Fourth of July (aka "The United States of America's Birthday as my sister says).  I went to my very first parade!
I found the parade to be so interesting that I never took my usual early evening cat nap.
Despite Mommy breaking out the snuggly blanket and pacifier and milk, I was not interested in sleeping.  I wasn't crying so everyone was ok with that.  There was just way too much to see!

I've gotten really "grabby" lately.  Grandma's cheeks were the victims at this point of the evening.

On the 4th we headed to the cabin to celebrate.  It was a gorgeous day and I loved it at the cabin.

 Our family!

Daddy was making me giggle!  I'm so ticklish!

Great Uncle Dave and I just chilling....

Mommy and Daddy got to go on a date night and Megan and I got to stay up late playing rock band.  It was win-win!  Grandma's house is so much fun!  Mom and Dad enjoyed eating out and having adult conversation.
My big sister Megan thought my fishies needed some "decorating" so she added a few things to my mobile on my swing.  Mommy had to remove the stuffed lamb as the mobile wouldn't actually spin with that in there.
After I got in, she had to remove the bunny toy as it kept bonking me in the head.  The little plastic monkey and the fish necklace are still there.
Megan and I having fun on the floor.  We look like we are getting along so well....

Oops!  I just can't help it. Hair pulling is my new favorite thing to do.  Mommy and Megan have such nice, long, flowy hair that is sooooo enticing.  Luckily right now Megan thinks it is funny.  Mommy is not sure how long that sentiment is going to last.  For now, they are wearing ponytails most days.

Mommy has been working with me on my sitting skills.  Most of the time I'm not all that interested. I'd rather be rolling all over the place!

What else is new?
  • I'm eating two meals a day of solid foods.  Foods I've tried: avocados, sweet potatoes, bananas, pears, peaches, apples, rice cereal, and oatmeal.  I think squash and carrots are up next.  My favorite fruit is pears and I seem to be really digging sweet potatoes lately.
  • My sleeping is getting more consistent.  I sleep between 8 pm- 8 am usually give or take a half hour or so.
  • I still love to babble babble babble and giggle!
  • My sister is still the funniest around!
  • I go for my 6 month check up next week so we'll see how big I've gotten!

5 Months and then some...

Hello everyone! Sorry for my late blogging.  I was going to blog last week and then we realized that there were only two decent pictures of me!  This is Daddy and me on Father's Day.

This is my official "5 months old" picture.  I celebrated 5 months of life by getting sick again.  I like to get sick when Daddy is traveling for work.  This time he was in Japan.  Thankfully for mommy, Grandma was here to help as when I get sick, my sleeping is not the greatest.  I got put on antibiotics again, although as it turned out, my wheezing was probably a virus as Mommy got it and it was more like a cold for her.  Both of us are all better now!

I went to my very first church picnic.  I slept through the first part, long enough for my parents to eat their picnic lunch!  Then once I got up, I lasted a little while until we needed to make a quick exit.  When I'm done with something...I'm done!

I'm getting so grown up these days.  Here I am sporting my race car jammies.  They are very manly.

And of course, my signature smile!

I love to babble!

I spend a lot of time in my jumperoo.  The first two pictures my mom took of me were so blurry because I was jumping so hard!

I got to go on my first trip to the cabin last weekend.  It was really windy and chilly while we were there.  Apparently after we left, the sun came out and it was really nice.  Oh well.

On Sunday I went to my very first graduation party.  This is my great aunt Lana holding me.  She is my Grandpa's sister.  Her grandson graduated from high school.

Grandma is good at making me giggle.  She knows where I'm most ticklish!

This picture shows how squirmy I've gotten lately.  Mommy is not looking forward to the day I start crawling because she thinks I'm going to be busy busy busy!  I'm already traveling via rolling.
This is me and my BFF Sophie.  I love chewing on
Sophie!

My big sister trying to get me to laugh! I find her to be the funniest one around here.  One night she was jumping in some puddles outside and I was inside with Mommy watching her from behind our glass storm door.  I was just cracking up watching her jump. I thought she was so hilarious.

Other news:
  • When I went to the doctor I weighed 15 pounds, 15 ounces.  That was a couple days before I turned 5 months old.
  • When I got over my illness, my sleeping dramatically improved.  I went a week straight of sleeping all night long (8 pm- anywhere from 6-8 am).  For some reason the last two nights I've gotten up so Mommy has been a little irritated by that.  I'll try to do better tonight!
  • My favorite games to play are peekaboo and pat-a-cake. Tonight "Row Row Row Your Boat" was especially fun with Daddy.
  • For the most part, I'm a really happy, easy-going baby.  When I have a bad day where I want to be held all day it really throws everything off!  Thankfully for Mommy, these days are pretty rare.  As long as I have food and enough rest, I'm usually pretty agreeable!
