7 Months!

Hi everyone!  Now that I'm 7 months it was time for me to start learning computing so I can blog all by myself and don't need to deal with all of my mom's editing!

I had my checkup with genetics at Children's Hospital in St Paul.  I keep growing and growing!  I was 19 pounds 3 ounces which was the 66th percentile (they are very exact at Children's!).  Mommy couldn't believe I gained a pound in less than 2 weeks but then remembered all the eating I had been doing and some late night/early morning wake ups.  This is the first time I've been above the 50th percentile for weight.  I was 68.9 cm which translates to about 2 feet three inches/27 inches.  This was the 44th percentile.  My head was 17.4 inches which was the 53rd percentile.  The good news from my visit there was that I'm perfectly healthy and was just born with a silly earlobe.  That was a relief for everyone!
This is me at Megan's last t ball game.  I decided to be sporty too in my Nike outfit!

We headed to Wells for Kernel days to help Grandma celebrate her birthday and also watch her as the Grand Marshal of the parade.  I had fun watching Megan jump in the inflatables. I can't wait to be able to jump!
I may not be able to jump but I'm king of getting my foot in my mouth.  My toes are soooo tasty!

Just smiling like I always do!

Megan got to ride in the convertible with Grandma and Grandpa.  My parents and I cheered from the sidelines as well as all of her other fans.  I felt super VIP!

I was not a big fan of the firetrucks at all!  Good thing Uncle Steve was there to protect me from all those big noisy trucks with their scary sirens!

On Sunday we went to the cabin to enjoy one last day there this summer.  Summer always goes too fast (or so I'm told..this is my first summer so it's all I really know!).  I'm getting better at my sitting but I definitely have to want to be sitting. Most of the time I'd rather be rolling or trying to crawl.  This sitting business is just plain boring.

This past weekend we went to our town's celebration. Megan played a game and "won" this pink bat.  I say "won" in quotes because it was really a pretty dumb game where all she had to do was scoop up ducks. It didn't matter how many ducks she got, or what ducks she got, no matter what she got to pick out any prize she wanted.  Lame!  But I was really happy with her prize choice. I found it hilarious.

The next day Mommy, Daddy, Megan and Uncle Steve headed to the state fair.  I stayed home with Grandma and Grandpa.  None of us enjoy the heat so we enjoyed our day in the air conditioning while the others sweated it out at the fair.  I was on my best behavior and was my charming self.

What else is new?
  • Mommy is no longer going to write glowing reports on my sleeping because every time she does then I decide to be a turkey and wake up in the middle of the night. Lately I've been sleeping all night but getting up super early.  This morning I got up at 7 and she was much happier with me.  We'll see what I decide to do tonight!
  • I'm still a great eater. I'm completely done nursing now.  Just formula for me.  I got to try Gerber puffs the other night and that was sure fun. It's so hard to put food in your mouth! Those tricky little puffs keep getting stuck to my wet, slobbery  hands.  My parents are happy that it keeps me more occupied during dinner and there's a greater possibility of them getting to eat their dinner without me on their lap trying to steal their food.
  • My favorite things are babbling, smiling, giggling at my sister, rolling all over, and trying to grab at everything!

My First Vacation and Other stuff! 6 months old!

Hi everyone! Well I'm 6 months old now!  I went to the doctor for my check up and I'm still in the 50th percentile for everything!  Just call me your average baby. I was 17.6 pounds, 26.75 inches long, and my head circumference was 17 inches.  I got more shots which is always a bummer.  Overall I'm doing pretty good.  A week later I went to the ENT doctor because I was born with kind of a silly left earlobe.  I was very happy that they said I shouldn't have surgery to fix it until I'm around 4.  I do have to go for some further testing because sometimes kids with funny ears have other health problems.  So I go for that checkup later this month.

I had a baby playdate with my new little friend Alyssa.  Her big sister Marah and Megan are good buddies.  Alyssa and I are a few weeks apart.  Our mommys' due dates were only a couple days apart but I came early and she came late.

This is me looking happy before my bath.  Mommy usually puts me in my bath seat on the carpet while she gets the water ready.

I got to go on my very first airplane ride for our trip to Pennsylvania.  My parents were wondering what kind of a traveler I was going to be.  I think I passed the test!  I only slept about 20 minutes but basically if you keep feeding me, I'm happy.

Our first full day we went to Sesame Place.  It was HOT so Mommy and I spent most of the day in the gift shop and cafeteria as they had good a/c!

One of my favorite parts of the trip was the lunch with Elmo and Friends.  I just had a bottle so I can't really comment on the "lunch" part but the Elmo and friends part was awesome. I loved all the big furry monsters!  So much fur to grab!  And their fur really tickled!!

 Hehehehehehehehehehehe
 Grover was SO funny!
 Elmo didn't disappoint!
 So so funny!
Cookie Monster was pretty great too!
I got distracted by something out the window I guess!

Since I had to spend most of my vacation in the stroller or in the baby carrier, my parents bought a portable jumperoo so I could get some exercise and wiggles out in the hotel room.  I was so happy about this!
The next day we went to the children's museum where I got to go on my very first ride..a carousel!  I was just ok with it.  I wasn't really sure what to think of it.
Daddy teaching Megan and I about rocket science.

It was HOT again so after visiting the Liberty Bell (well Megan and Daddy did.. I fell asleep so Mommy just kept me in the a/c in the visitor's center), everyone got ice cream treats.  Mommy took a bite and then I went to grab it. I really didn't like getting left out of ice cream treat eating!!

On our last day we went to the aquarium.  I wore my crab outfit, of course.

This must be Sharky's cousin!  I can't remember what this shark's name was, but he looked a lot like Sharky from Mall of America.

The trip home went pretty well and we adjusted back to "normal" post vacation life.  This day we had a picnic lunch in the living room.
My sister was bossing me around like usual...

I take all that in stride.

I'm getting to be such a big boy.  I enjoy playing with toys in my high chair.  This is helpful for Mommy to be able to eat breakfast.

Megan is still doing her photo bombing...................

This last weekend Mommy and Daddy had their first overnight away from me!  They went to a wedding.  Grandma, Grandpa and Steve came up to babysit me.

This is me in a very non-politically correct costume.

Uncle Steve took some great shots.  Check out all my hair growing back in!
My sister might be bossy but she's pretty funny and entertaining too!
 Driving without a license!

Enjoying a nice early evening outside

Daddy went on another work trip last week so Grandma and Steve came up to watch Megan's t-ball game and then took Megan home with them so Mommy just had to solo parent one kid.  Here is me watching Megan play ball.  I really enjoyed my alone time with Mommy and Mommy was amazed at what she could get done when only dealing with me!  I take naps so that really helps productivity!

Daddy and I hanging out on the floor!

More smiles for Grandma.
What else is new?
  • I am able to sit up for short periods of time.  I have the ab strength to do it longer but if you put me in a sitting position I immediately want to get into crawling position.  Mommy thinks I might crawl before I sit up.  I can scoot a little if I get really determined to get something.  The other day with a series of rolling and scooting I was able to capture the cat, Ashley.  Victory was mine!
  • I am continuing to try new foods.  So far I like everything.  My new favs are carrots and squash!
  • Most nights I sleep 8 pm to 8 am approximately.  Every once in awhile I'll have a random wake up but I usually go back to sleep without much intervention..if any at all.  Everyone is pleased with this.
  • I'm taking most of my milk through bottles now.  It was pretty difficult to nurse on vacation.  The heat, the fact that I no longer like Mommy wearing her cover up while feeding me, etc caused me to get mostly bottles on vacation. And once you have the convenience and speed of a bottle, it's hard to go back to slow eating.
